Why TV is Wrecking Your Bills
The scenario is a familiar one, you get home from work and you make your way through your house, and then at some point you sit down and you catch up on your favorite show on cable TV. Unfortunately, watching television is unnecessary and it is incredibly expensive. It wastes your time, and it is more than likely that TV is wasting your money. Here are a few reasons that paying for cable or dish is sucking away your money, and the other ways you are slowly losing cash to the television
The TV ItselfThe television that is mounted on your wall is probably one of the most expensive electronics you own, especially if it is an HDTV or something of that nature. When you get into the realm of giant flat screens, you might as well be throwing your money away. The tech you are buying now for that TV will be obsolete in a few years, and then you’ll likely have to go out and buy the newest extension or a new device altogether. By just eliminating the TV itself, which has no other use than TV and video games, you will be using up a lot less money.
Cable/ Dish TVPaying for your TV to receive something to the order of three hundred channels or more is kind of crazy, especially when you can only really watch one show at a time. Chances are you only really like four or five shows on TV and the rest you just watch to watch. It would be more worth your time to buy your shows on DVD then bother paying the cable companies the big bucks for a service that you aren’t really using. If anything, switch to an internet streamer, where you can watch all the shows you like for a significantly lowered price.
Television makes up a big portion of your bill. TVs use up a ton of electricity, even when turned off. Unplugging the TV when you go out for a long time, like on vacation or even just while you are sleeping can save you a bunch of money. TVs suck electricity up and are not very efficient at using it either. You might be better off selling your TV and making money then by trying to minimize the costs it racks up on your bill. That way you at least make money on it instead of losing money to it every month. If you are really desperate to watch TV, you can do it online by paying for services that are much cheaper than watching through your TV. Computers also charge and can be unplugged easily, and take up less energy than a TV does.
Time is MoneyYour time is money. The time that you spend watching television could be spent doing a million other things that are much more productive than fixing your eyes on a screen. The more productive you are with your time, the more creative you will be and the better your quality of life will improve. Without even the temptation of a TV you will be able to focus better on the things that you need to do instead of what you want the people in your story are doing. This is not saying that you shouldn’t entertain yourself, but it is saying that TV is a major way to waste time. You might be surprised to see how much time can go by when you are absorbed in what you are watching on TV. There are just so many cheaper and more enriching things you can do with your time. If you remove TV from your life for just one week, you’ll see how much free time you really have.
Your overall health will benefit from choosing more active things to do, besides watching TV. When you make a choice to go outside or work out instead of plant yourself in front the television and waste time. The health benefits that you will get from no TV will save on medical bills and other weight and health related issues that might crop up in the future. You can beat your sedentary lifestyle by getting rid of your TV in favor of active hobbies.
